Two more American Samoa Army Reserve units mobilized

10:45 am on 5 July 2004

Two infantry units of the American Samoa Army Reserve have been placed on alert status for possible mobilisation.

Today's alert order follows a similar order issued last month for the remainder of the 793rd engineering detachment.

Congressman, Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin, has asked for prayers for the soldiers and their families.

"Don't anybody ever say that we're not bearing our fair share of the burden of this conflict that is now happening in Iraq, and all we can do is to pray for their safe return."

There are about 200 soldiers in the two rifle units, Company B and Company C, of the 100th batallion.
