American Samoan jailed for abusing title

A man has been jailed in American Samoa for using a chiefly title in defiance of a court order.

Peteru Luavasa Tauala was barred by the high court from using the title Tauala which he had done on four occasions, such as funerals.

Last year, Peteru was found guilty of contempt and jailed for 60 days for the unauthorised use of the title.

In the latest ruling, the court said Peteru had learned nothing from his 60days of confinement.
