The Fiji Times reports that this follows the government's 2004 budget decision to increase import duty on 510 items by 5 percent to 15 percent.

This would see the state earning an extra 2.5 million US dollars.

Among the household things set to increase are various grocery items ranging from toothpaste to powdered milk, and vehicle tyres.
