11:23 am on 17 February 2003

The civil case connected to the funds missing from the Tonga Trust Fund in the United States has been scheduled to be heard in San Francisco.

The hearing is due to be held at the beginning of December.

About fifty witnesses, including some from Tonga, are due to be called.

The Tonga Trust Fund was set up by the government to hold funds for the benefit of the Tongan people.

In 1999, the fund held more than 26 US million dollars, but most of that has been lost.
