The governor of the Central Bank of Solomon Islands, Rick Hou, says the government's dealings with a Bougainville-based group for a 350 million US dollar grant has been damaging.

It is unclear whether any of the funds will be released as promised.

Mr Hou says some of the money has been offered by the RAONK group in currencies, such as UV dollars and Mekamui dollars, which can not be converted.

Mr Hou says these dealings have damaged his country's reputation

"The international image of this country and may I say the government and perhaps even more so the individuals that are involved definitely has been tarnished and this is something that is very sad indeed."
