In the Federated States of Micronesia, emergency workers say they are struggling to provide aid to those left homeless from a typhoon which struck Chuuk Island last week.
The Chuuk Disaster and Emergency Office says a lack of funds to buy petrol for transport has held up the supply food and clothing to the over 1-thousand homeless.
Typhoon Chataan hit Chuuk last week with torrential rain and winds of up to 200 kilometres per hour, destroying coastal villages and causing landslides.
The Emergency Office says the death toll is now over 40.
A spokesperson says they are waiting for the National government to provide extra funds and food.
"we are donating some food and we're dividing them up. I think it is not enough but we will receive more. We have transport but we don't have enough money to buy gas. We are getting some money from the government, in the meantime we don't receive our gas yet from the gas station."
