The Fiji government has asked the high court to dismiss a 90-million US dollar compensation claim filed by the Fiji Peacekeepers Association.
Radio Fiji reports the solicitor general, Nainendra Nand, has applied to have the claim struck out on the grounds that it discloses no reasonable cause of action against the state.
Mr Nand also argues that the claim is scandalous, frivolous and vexatious, and that it is an abuse of the court process.
If the government's application fails, the state will have to file a defence.
Mr Nand says the state cannot consider any out of court settlement because the Peacekeepers Association has no valid claim.
This comes after the peacekeepers' lawyer, Tevita Fa, sought an out of court settlement amounting to half their original claim without any interest.
