Sir Dave Dobbyn will serve a slice of his back catalogue at one-off Auckland show
The New Zealand music legend will take fans on an "unforgettable journey" at the Town Hall for the first time in June.
Sir Dave Dobbyn and his band will perform one show, serving a “musical journey” through the revered New Zealand musician's back catalogue at Auckland Town Hall, it's been announced.
Sir Dave's best-known songs as a solo performer or with groups Th’ Dudes and DD Smash include 'Whaling', 'Outlook for Thursday' and 'Slice of Heaven'.
The show, set for Wednesday, 4 June, will be the 68-year-old's first appearance at Auckland Town Hall.

The set is part of the Auckland Winter Series of concerts. The line-up also includes Australian DJ Mall Grab, Japanese Breakfast and New Zealand artist Teeks.

Sir Dave has continued playing live shows since a 2022 diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
He said is a announcement at the time he had a tremor in his right hand, and it gave his guitar playing "a new kind of twang".
Sir Dave said the diagnosis had given him a wider appreciation of life, and he would still be performing.
"I have to do what I love, so it's business as usual and on with the show, singing all the way.
In 2021, Sir Dave who was knighted in the 2021 Honours list, told RNZ the search for a perfect song still drives him creatively saying that songwriting is a difficult craft, and he viewed his catalogue of songs as a series of failures.
“I’m guilty of thinking that the next song is the one I’m going to get right.
“It drives you mad, and it’s supposed to drive you mad because you’re looking for excellence out of yourself and it’s very hard to find excellence inside of anybody.”
He said he’d also learned to let go of his songs once listeners have formed their own connection to them.
“If you look at the purpose of a song, you’re just having a conversation. You just want it to be a good one.
“A lot of the time I have no idea why people like them. I’m just overcome by this squirming embarrassment.”
After rising to prominence with Th' Dudes in the late ‘70s, Sir Dave has received a record number of music awards and Silver Scrolls for his work across nine studio albums.
This Friday he will release a new recording of ‘Slice Of Heaven’ (Paradise Version) to coincide with the 50-year anniversary of New Zealand’s official music charts. First released in 1986, it gave Sir Dave his first number 1 single and it has since spent 18 weeks at the top of the Top 40 singles chart across the course of his career.
