Five people have been warned and two have been arrested and charged for breaching level 3 restrictions in Auckland.

More than 5600 vehicles have been turned around at the Auckland borders since level 3 restrictions came into force.

As of yesterday afternoon, 105,963 vehicles were let through the checkpoints.

Police are urging people to stick to the rules with the weekend approaching, and warn that anyone who cannot prove essential purpose of travel will be turned around.

Today, the Ministry of Health confirmed five new confirmed cases of Covid-19, all relating to the existing Auckland cluster.

The National Party unveiled its proposed policy on border security.

Meanwhile, the government is being urged to launch an inquiry into its response to the pandemic as soon as the Auckland outbreak is under control.
