Lawyers for convicted sex offender Muhammad Rizalman have filed an appeal against his sentence.

The former employee of the Malaysian Embassy had admitted a charge of indecent assault, though he disputed some of the facts alleged against him.
He had been ordered to serve nine months home detention and pay $5000 in reparations to his victim for emotional harm.
RNZ News can confirm he was appealing that sentence.
In the case, the court heard that Rizalman entered the home of Tanya Billingsley in Brooklyn, Wellington, without his trousers and underpants on, after he had defecated outside her house.
Dr Donald Stevens, his lawyer at the time, said the case was unusual, as it did not involve any sexual touching or sexual assault, and the offending was out of character.
His client had led an exemplary life until that time, he said.
However, Justice Collins said Rizalman had terrified his victim and shown little remorse.
No date has been set for a hearing at the Court of Appeal.
