Nyika, who won a gold medal in Glasgow four years ago, scored a unanimous points win over Cheavon Clarke of England.

However Nyika didn't have it all his own way with all five judges giving the first round to the Englishman with Nyika then winning the next two.

He will fight Australian Jason Whately in the final tomorrow afternoon at 3.30pm (nz time).

Meanwhile, Troy Garton has won a bronze medal in the women's 60kg division.
