Milne felt discomfort following Saturday's quarter-final against the West Indies and underwent an MRI scan, which showed significant swelling around the region, so he won't be fit to play any further part in the tournament. A timeline for his return is not yet known.

Milne has played in all but one of the Black Caps' seven World Cup games, and taken five wickets at an average of 39.80.

Canterbury fast bowler Matt Henry has joined the team and will replace Milne in the squad of 15.

Henry performed well on the tour of the United Arab Emirates late last year but Milne pipped him into the final World Cup squad.
