Canadian musician, James Hill has been described as one of the world's top ukulele composers and possibly the most proficient player of the instrument.

He plays the ukulele like you've never heard it before, from bluegrass to samba and pop

He's in Auckland for a concert tonight which is a fundraiser for the New Zealand Ukulele Trust

1:15 Our first 110kph roads

In two and a half weeks (Monday, December 11) two North Island roads will have 110 kilometres an hour speed limits.

The roads are the Tauranga Eastern Link and the Cambridge part of the Waikato Expressway.

The Transport Agency has just announced the move and we speak with Harry Wilson the agency's Director of Safety and Environment

1:20 A glimmer of hope for New Zealand's footballers

There seems to be some hope for the All Whites footballers despite losing their World Cup qualifier to Peru last week.

Peru beat New Zealand 2-nil in Lima to claim the 32nd and final spot at the football World Cup in Russia next year.

There are doubts about Peru's place at the World Cup now because of a move by the Government there to take control of the sport.

1:25 NZ's most improved river announced

The Cawthron Foundation announced the winners of the New Zealand River Awards last night and the supreme award for most improved river went to Canterbury's Pahau River

Voting opened on Monday for Settling the Score, RNZ Concert’s annual poll of New Zealand’s favourite classical music.

We asked people to use the RNZ Vox Pop app to sing, whistle or hum a classical piece they love but can't name, and the team at RNZ Concert listened, and identified them.

Flax snails belong to the genus Placostylus, and were known to Māori as pūpūharakeke. Three species are recognised in New Zealand. 

Once abundant in northern New Zealand, all species are now endangered. 

DOC’s Threatened Species Ambassador, Nicola Toki will tell us all about them.
