Alison Leonard
Alison grew up in Nelson and has lived in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland. As a child every year touring NZ with Mum, Dad and the caravan. With the intention of heading to med school, she was offered a summer job in radio on Fifeshire FM, Nelson’s first private radio station and its radio where she stayed. A move to work in Auckland saw her on both radio and TV.

At home behind the microphone Alison has hosted her own shows and read news ever since she can remember, being a finalist on several occasions for Best Newsreader at the NZ Radio Awards. She joined RNZ as a casual newsreader in late 2024.
As well as a love for the smell of the greasepaint on the radio floorboards Alison is a mad foodie, a grower of food, has a great love of animals and is often found by the ocean or somewhere in nature.
