Schools in Otago and Southland to get $37m

Thirty-seven-million dollars is to go into new school projects in Otago and Southland.

Queenstown will get a bigger high school, Arrowtown's primary school will be redeveloped, and there will be new classrooms in Wanaka, Oamaru and Invercargill.

Associate Education Minister Nikki Kaye announced the new funding in Queenstown, where the annual Winter Festival began today.

She said $25m of the money would be spent relocating and rebuilding Queenstown's Wakatipu High School so it can take another 140 students.
