Grounded Kiwis believes fully vaccinated travellers should be allowed to isolate at home as they are doing in other countries.

However, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said yesterday any changes to the country's MIQ and self isolation process would not happen until the first quarter of 2022.

She said any changes to the isolation systems would be a "big step".

Grounded Kiwis spokesperson Martin Newell, who is stuck in Melbourne, said it was extremely disappointing.

"The time is now to make changes to the border," he said. "There is no need for people to be going into hotels if they're returning to New Zealand from overseas fully vaccinated."

Newell said he has given up on the lottery system, and will only return to New Zealand when he can isolate at home.

He said many similar countries had already dropped their quarantine requirements in favour of home isolation.
