Police have named the four people who died in a crash near Ashburton last week.

They were Jonathan Campbell, 54, of Auckland; Avinash Chand, 33; Sheryll Cairns, 66; and Donald Wallace, 61, all of Christchurch.
They died after a truck and van collided on Cochranes Road and Wakanui Road in Elgin.
Area Commander Inspector David Gaskin last week told RNZ it appeared the van went through a controlled intersection as the truck passed in a "moment's carelessness".
"This is an absolute tragedy," Gaskin said.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
