A body has been found in the search for a boatie who went missing in the Gisborne region.
The alarm was raised about 5pm yesterday when emergency services were told that a boat had overturned 3km south of the Awatere River mouth.
A search was launched off Tikitiki.
Police said two people were in the boat at the time of the incident.
One person made it to shore to raise the alarm.
Two helicopters joined in the search last night.
Police say the man's body was found today, about 9km away from the boat.
His death will be referred to the coroner.
