Blatter resigned earlier this month only days after being re-elected to the position, following the arrests of several FIFA officials on charges of racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering as part of an American prosecution.

New Zealand voted against his bid for a fifth successive term as FIFA president.

Blatter was expected to arrive here in time for the final of the under-20 event in Auckland on Saturday.

A FIFA spokesperson said the 79-year-old's commitments in Zurich meant he would not be able to travel to New Zealand.
