A group of taxi companies has brought the New Zealand rideshare company Zoomy.

It has been acquired by the billing company Taxicharge which is co-owned by dozens of taxi companies nationwide.
Wellington Combined Taxis is trialing the technology and is the first companies to begin adding its drivers to the pool available through the app.
Company chairman Dave Clyma said its 500-vehicle fleet will reduce passenger wait times for the app.
He said its drivers will pay a lower commission than other ride-share companies, and because Zoomy is New Zealand owned all the income will remain onshore.
Taxi companies have been hammered by the emergence of ridesharing apps such as Uber and then the Covid-19 lockdowns.
