Sikhs seek new life in Hawkes Bay

Described as one of the most egalitarian of world faiths, there are around 20,000 Sikh's living in New Zealand. First built in 1999 the Sikh Gurdwara or temple in Hastings served a tiny community but now around 1500 Sikhs live in the Hawkes Bay. Is it time for a new Gurdwara and what is it about the Bay that draws them there? Lynda Chanwai-Earle visits their Gurdwara in Hastings during one of their three day festivals to learn more.
