Building costs keep driving inflation

Building costs continue to be a big driver of inflation, with prices for building a new house increasing fourteen percent in the 12 months to December 2022.

About ninety per cent of building products in New Zealand are either sourced as finished products or are reliant on components from overseas, where in many cases inflation rates are even higher.
