1:17 Wellington watering down its proposed spatial plan
A report given to Wellington City Councilors last week reveals that the council will be watering down it's proposed spatial plan. The report has made its way to Stuff and this morning it revealed that the council is increasing identified "character precinct" areas by nearly half, putting the brakes on new building development in central city suburbs.
Councilors will discuss these changes next week. Jesse is joined by Eleanor West from Wellington advocacy group A City for People to explain what this might mean on the ground.

In an article for the North and South, journalist Anna Rawhiti-Connell has taken a close look at the tradition of women taking their husbands' surnames when they get married.
She was also surprised to find that Internal Affairs doesn't keep a track of mariial name changes.
Anna talks to Jesse about how the age old tradition appears to have stuck in spite of so many other social changes.
