1.28 Testing for COVID-19 in New Zealand

Gisborne laboratory d-nature specializes in the technique being used for COVID-19 testing.

The lab is bringing in the chemicals and components that are needed to turn the swab material into RNA, and the reagents needed to copy and detect the COVID-19 RNA.

1.36 Short film competition for young people in lockdown

Miss Conception films has launched a short film competition for young people in lockdown.

The competition is calling for children and teenagers up to the age of 16 to make their own short film using the devices in their bubble.

The theme for the competition is ‘Finding our way home’, and submissions are open from April 13th until May 8th.

We speak to producer Ainsley Gardener, who is a co-partner of Miss Conception Films.

Mike Bell is an ornithologist passionate about native bird conservation in the Chatham Islands.

He has spent 30 years travelling to the isolated Rēkohu archipelago, also known as the Chatham Islands, to do conservation work there - starting when he was a teenager.

He’s the managing director of Wildlife Management International, but also works closely with the Chatham Islands Tāiko Trust - among many other things.
