Researchers from the University of Otago have been looking at Wellington's water fountains. They found very few playgrounds had water fountains and of the 47 owned by the city council, almost half are in a state of dereliction.

Critter of the week kicked off  on 17 Sept 2015 with the gravel maggot and pausing only for holiday breaks, we have learned about 8 plants, 1 carnivorous plant, 1 bat, 3 marine mammals, 3 frogs, 9 reptiles, 6 freshwater fish and only 14 birds - the rest have been a mix of the weird and wonderful and very small creatures in our ecosystem.
