1:15 World's largest marine protected area announced for the Ross Sea
A breakthough agreement has been reeached, which will see the creation of the worlds largest marine protected area.
The new Marine Protected Area will cover roughly 1.55 million square kilometres of the Ross sea - 1.12 million square kilometres of this will be a no fishing zone.
Many groups and conservationists have been fighting for years to get the area protected - among them is film-maker Peter Young, whose 2012 documentary The Last Ocean focussed on the threats facing the Ross Sea and attempts to create a marine protected area.
1:15 A technicolour Universe
A group of New Zealand scientists have managed to get a glimpse of some of the far away galaxies for the first time.
Associate professor Melanie Johnston-Hollitt, together with her fellow Victoria University colleagues have helped to produce a new catalogue of 300,000 galaxies.
They have also managed to reveal the universe in technicolour for the first time using radio wave surveys.
Melanie Johnston-Hollitt will be talking about her findings at Ted X Christchurch and joins Jesse in the Christchurch studio.
1:25 Should we charge for NZ's great walks?
Increased tourist numbers on the country's great walks has prompted DOC's Director General to raise the issue of charging for the privilege.
Lou-Sanson raised the idea at a Queenstown Chamber of Commerce meeting where he talked about the explosion in popularity of the treks all over New Zealand.
Current legislation doesn't allow for DOC to charge for entry to national parks, just for the use of the facilities they provide.

New Zealand Live today features the horn section from one of our best loved bands of the 90s. As part of Supergroove they recorded three albums, had five top ten singles and were named Group of The Year at the 1995 New Zealand Music Awards. Playing as a duo, Nick Atkinson and Tim Stewart are about to release their second album together this very day, and will undertake a promotional tour starting tonight. We are lucky to have them in our Auckland studio before they get away.

Auckland chef and restaurateur Yael Shochat grew up in the Israeli city of Haifa, eating fresh local market foods at home and at the local Arabic and Jewish restaurants. When she came to New Zealand in the late 1990s it was very hard to find the kind of food she was used to back home, so she opened her own place, The Lunch Box, and later Ima, a restaurant and deli in the central city. Ima means mother in Hebrew
Yael Shochat has just released a book of recipes called Ima Cuisine, and shares one of them with us, for Middle Eastern chicken and rice.
