Two men are in custody in French Polynesia after landing in Tahiti with banned drugs on them.

The public broadcaster says for the first time a person has been arrested with six grams of heroin concealed in his body.

It says last year a man in his 50s was caught arriving in Tahiti with heroin but that person was an addict who was subsequently jailed.

Investigations continue in the latest case which allegedly also involved the smuggling of methamphetamine from Los Angeles.
