    The Romantic movement gave birth to a new era of individuality, heralded by the innovative poetry of Goethe and the musical genius of Schubert. The Romantics were also fascinated by the natural and supernatural worlds, which are explored in contrasting settings of Goethe's eerie poem "Der Erlkönig."
