    Colombian sounds

    Today's programme features two Colombian singers. Toto La Momposina sings traditional songs representing three distinct musical styles - tambores, sextetos and gaitos - that reflect the African, Spanish and indigenous Indian influences found in Colombian folk music.

    Then in the second part of the programme, singer-songwriter Marta Gomez performs original compositions based on traditional rhythms from all over Latin America, which she mixes with elements of jazz and pop (Real World 788290; Chesky 680281)
