    (4) PUCCINI: La Fanciulla del West, an opera in three acts

    It's just over 100 years since the Metropolitan Opera premièred La Fanciulla del West (10 December 1910). Based on David Belasco's play The Girl of the Golden West, the spaghetti western tells the tale of Minnie, an independent frontier woman who runs an inn in a community of roughneck miners. She falls in love with a bandit, Dick Johnson, and it is this love that finally saves Johnson from execution
