This work marks the centenary of one of the bloodiest battles of WWI at Chemin des Dames, just outside Paris. It also acknowledges the impact of the war on women and their families.

Gareth Farr's own three great-great-uncles, all brothers, were killed in the war and are buried in France and Belgium. It's composed especially for Sébastien Hurtaud who also gave the French première later in 2017.

Aotearoa Plus Recorded 5 May 2017, Michael Fowler Centre, Wellington by RNZ Concert.

Producer: David McCaw

Engineer: Graham Kennedy
