German cellist Daniel Müller-Schott joins the Auckland Philharmonia and Music Director Giordano Bellincampi to perform Robert Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor. The concert opens with Franz Schubert’s Rosamunde Overture, a piece originally composed for the play Die Zauberharfe but historically celebrated for its association with the incidental music for Rosamunde.

Müller-Schott brings his renowned technical ease and warm tone to Schumann's introspective concerto, a work composed rapidly in 1850 during a brief period of stability in the composer's life. The programme concludes with selections from Ludwig van Beethoven’s The Creatures of Prometheus. As Beethoven’s only full-length ballet, the music explores Enlightenment ideals and features early iterations of themes that would later define his Eroica Symphony.
