Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra - "Free Spirit"
The title “Free Spirit” is no doubt inspired by the character of Don Juan, as depicted by Richard Strauss in his tone poem, but all three works in the concert contain music with a certain breezy, footloose attitude.
The APO's Music Director Giordano Bellincampi conducts and the orchestra's Principal Viola Robert Ashworth steps to the front of the stage to be the soloist in Anthony Ritchie's First Viola Concerto.
Recorded by RNZ Concert in Auckland Town Hall, 1 November 2018
