The Wildcats have snapped the New Zealand Breakers' five-game winning streak after the home side scored a comprehensive 86-62 victory in their Australian National Basketball League clash in Perth.

The game was a top-of-the-table clash between ladder leaders New Zealand and second-placed Perth, but the Wildcats jumped the visitors early to burst out to a 28-16 lead at the end of the first quarter in front of a sold out crowd at Challenge Stadium.

While it was a big loss for the Breakers, the defending champions remain on top of the table with a 10-4 record, just ahead of the Wildcats on 9-5, with the New Zealanders likely to welcome back star guard CJ Bruton to take on Cairns on New Year's Eve.

After Cairns the Breakers continue their road trip in Melbourne on January the 8th against the Tigers, who edged the Cairns Taipans 67-65 at home, while elsewhere the Townsville Crocodiles beat the Kings 100-93 in Sydney and the Blaze crushed the Adelaide 36ers 96-77 on the Gold Coast.
