The All Whites have lost their qualifying match against Costa Rica 1-0, ending their hopes of a spot in the FIFA World Cup.
New Zealand have been to just two World Cups, 1982 in Spain and 2010 in South Africa.
The South Americans scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the third minute. The All Whites thought they had scored an equaliser through striker Chris Wood late in the first half, only for the goal to be ruled out by the video assistant referee.
