The sale of the New Zealand Warriors to a crowd-funding campaign appears to be on track.
Former Warriors captain Monty Betham posted on Facebook they have signed a non-disclosure agreement with the rugby league club's management and are beginning due diligence.
Mr Betham has been involved in a crowd-funded effort to get Warriors fans to purchase the club from millionaire Eric Watson.
Mr Watson has been involved in some level of ownership of the franchise for 17 years, and stepped down as the team's chair a week ago.
Mr Betham finished his Facebook post with "Stay tuned team. Our dream is now one more step closer to reality".
It comes just after Auckland businessman Paul Davys withdrew his bid to buy the club due to a "confusing process".
The Warriors' have been struggling recently, with their match against Manly last Sunday resulting in their eighth loss in a row.
They finish outside the top eight, with final game of the season is in Sydney against Wests Tigers on Sunday.
