With two debutants and only 252 runs on the board at Pukekura Park, the Central Stags pulled off the unexpected to defeat a strong Otago Volts unit.

The Stags captain Kruger van Wyk won the toss elected to bat and newly inducted Tom Bruce stood up to the challenge, top scoring for the Stags with 88 from 65 balls.

It was an innings instrumental to the Stags posting a defendable score after they had been on the ropes at 107 for five in the 25th over.

The Volts toiled well on a slow pitch but with the bat, they rapidly fell apart - none of the Volts' batsman passed the half-century mark.

The Volts were eventually all out for 203.

The Stags will now meet the Auckland Aces in Sunday's Grand Final in Auckland.
