Another measles case in Northland

6:13 pm on 23 May 2016

Health officials are reporting another case of measles in Northland, bringing the number of confirmed cases to five.

Medical Officer of Health Claire Mills said all five cases were in the Kerikeri - Whangaroa area.

She said vaccination clinics were held over the weekend in Kerikeri and more would be held this week, including one at Kerikeri High School today.

Dr Mills said there is a window of opportunity now for people to catch up on any missed vaccinations, which is a better option than having a very sick child at home for a fortnight or a teenager missing two weeks of school.

The next free vaccination clinic in Kerikeri will be at the District Health Board dental clinic in Hone Heke Road from 9am to 3pm tomorrow.
