A teacher convicted on several charges arising out of her sexual relationship with a boy at her school can now be named.
Stacey Rereti, 31, was a deputy principal at Natone Park School in Porirua East when the offending occurred.
During her trial in the High Court in Wellington last month, jurors heard Rereti began an intimate relationship with the boy, and frequently exchanged text messages with him, when he was aged between 10 and 13.
On one occasion she took him to a motel in Paraparaumu where they had sex.
At her trial Rereti said the boy was a cunning liar and denied touching him.
But the jury found her guilty on two charges of sexual violation and five charges of sexual connection with a young person, although she was acquitted on two charges of indecent assault.
She sought permanent name suppression, but that was declined by Justice Simon France, who gave her a week to file a further appeal with the Court of Appeal.
No appeal has been filed, meaning her name can now be published.
Rereti has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the end of this month.
