The board that advises Auckland Council on Maori matters has lost its latest court battle with broadcaster Willie Jackson, who is contesting his failure to be selected.

The Court of Appeal has upheld an earlier High Court decision that the Independent Maori Statutory Board (IMSB) incorrectly selected the two members representing urban maori.
Mr Jackson opposed only one of the two selections, meaning the appointment of former radio talkback host John Tamihere is not covered by the decision.
The court's finding sets aside the re-selection in 2013 of Tony Kake, saying the need to consult with urban Maori was not properly carried out.
The court said its decision had obvious implications for Mr Tamihere, but it was now up to the statutory board to decide what to do.
The IMSB was set up under legislation in 2010 to advise Auckland Council, and is funded by the city's ratepayers.
The board has nine members - seven representing iwi and mana whenua, and two representing urban maori without iwi affiliation.
