New owner's big boost for Antarctic Centre

9:32 am on 17 October 2015

One of the South Island's biggest tourism operators has bought Christchurch's International Antarctic Centre, with the new owners looking at a multi-million dollar upgrade of the attraction.

Real Journeys will become the new owner and operator of the attraction from the end of this month.

Among the exhibits at the centre, visitors can see operational personnel from the United States, New Zealand and South Korea going about their daily Antarctic business.

Real Journeys chief executive Richard Lauder said all staff were being retained and a meeting with staff was held yesterday to tell them about the change of ownership.
