Charge laid over Lyttelton Port death

5:47 pm on 27 February 2015

Worksafe New Zealand has laid a charge in relation to the death of a worker at Lyttelton Port last year.

A spokesperson for the agency said it was unable to say what the charge was or who had been charged until the matter went to court, as name suppression might be granted.

Brad Fletcher died in August last year when a scissor lift he was working on toppled over.

The 40-year-old father of three was the third person to have died working at the port in the past two years.

The other two were contractors.
