Police in Waitemata have confirmed a body found in waters off a West Auckland beach is missing swimmer Johnny Perese Faitaua.

The 24-year old from Glen Eden was swept away last week when he was swimming off the Bethells Beach and O'Neills Bay peninsula.
Police, including Pacific Liaison staff and Victim Support, were supporting the Faitaua family.
Mr Faitaua's death will be referred to the coroner.
