Earlier start sought to hearing into donation

12:26 pm on 15 August 2008

Winston Peters has requested a Parliamentary hearing into a donation received by his New Zealand First Party be moved forward.

The Privileges Committee is due to meet at 7pm on Monday to discuss the 2005 donation to Mr Peters legal fund.

Mr Peters says he would like the hearing held earlier in the day and says he's happy for media to be present.

But the committee chair, National MP Simon Power, says the 7pm start won't be changed as that's the time members are available.

Complaints about the $100,000 contribution from expatriate businessman Owen Glenn, towards the legal expenses of an electoral petition in 2006, were referred to the committee by the Speaker of PArliament.
