Waikato police are to use amateur camera footage to establish if an elderly woman was driving on the wrong side of the road when her car and another vehicle collided.
The woman and her passenger were killed in the accident on State Highway 1 near Huntly on Tuesday morning.
The other driver, a 30-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Waikato Hospital.
District road policing manager, Inspector Leo Tooman, says people in another vehicle noticed the woman's car travelling on the wrong side of the barrier and filmed it.
Mr Tooman says the footage has been dropped into an Auckland police station and will be used by the investigation team.
