The annual rate of food price inflation is at its highest level in two years.
Statistics New Zealand says food price inflation is 7.9%, the highest annual change since July 2009.
A rise of 14% in vegetable prices accounted for more than half of the increase for the month of July.
Meat, poultry and fish were up 3.7%.
Food prices are now well ahead of the general rate of inflation, which was 5.3% at the end of June.
