The Mangamuka Gorge will be closed again from this weekend so work to fix a big slip last year can continue.

State Highway 1 through the gorge will close to all traffic at midnight on Sunday.
A single lane has been open for light vehicles during the Christmas period.
The road was damaged by eight slips during a 1 in 500 year storm that hit Northland last July, causing extensive flooding and road closures.
Waka Kotahi hopes to have the road fully opened by mid-this year.
