No new cases of Covid-19 for 20th day in a row

There are no new cases of Covid-19 in New Zealand for the 20th consecutive day, the Ministry of Health has confirmed.

In a statement, the ministry said another 3350 tests were completed yesterday, bringing the total to 301,882 - 6 percent of the New Zealand population.

The last day that New Zealand reported an active case of Covid-19 was on 22 May.

Confirmed cases remains at 1154, while total confirmed and probable cases remains at 1504. Recovered cases is 1482.

There were no further deaths, leaving New Zealand's total deaths from the virus at 21.

In the same statement, the Ministry revealed an independent review of Covid-19 clusters in aged care facilities had confirmed that infections were introduced to the facilities by staff or visitors.

On Monday, the Health Ministry declared that the final remaining active case in New Zealand had recovered.

The number of clusters considered closed remains at nine, unchanged after one in Auckland was closed yesterday.

New Zealand moved to level 1 at midnight on 8 June removing national restrictions but its borders continue to be closed to all but New Zealand citizens and permanent residents.

The number of people who have downloaded the NZ Covid Tracer app increased by about 5000, to about 546,000.
