People are being warned not to collect or eat shellfish from Coromandel to Bay of Plenty.

Routine tests on shellfish taken from the southern end of Pauanui Beach to the northern tip of Mount Maunganui have revealed high levels of paralytic shellfish poisoning toxins.
Toxic shellfish have also been found in Tauranga Harbour.
