Teams keeping a close eye on an injured leopard seal say they weren't able to find her this morning, but they hope that's a positive sign.

Owha, who is well-known to boaties in the Waitematā harbour, was spotted with a bleeding nostril last Saturday.

It's believed she was shot.

She has been closely monitored since, but experts and vets have agreed they don't need to intervene.

They say the fact they were unable to find Owha this morning suggests she may be out foraging.

People who are out in the harbour over the weekend are being asked to immediately report any sightings of her and give her space.
